Google has released a dataset of 516 million buildings across 19.4 million square kilometers in Africa. Google created the dataset with an AI system that analyzed satellite images to locate buildings, and it consists of each building’s latitude, longitude, geometric shape, and area in square meters. The dataset has many applications such as population estimation, urban planning, humanitarian response, and environmental science.
