Reuters has created a series of visualizations that show the differences between COVID-19-related deaths in Eastern and Western Europe. One visualization compares when  European countries experienced their peak number of COVID-19-related deaths. It shows that western countries such as Italy, France, Spain, and Belgium peaked between March and April, whereas eastern countries such as Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, and Lithuania peaked between November and December. Another visualization explains this difference by taking into account how quickly different countries imposed lockdown measures and travel restrictions. For example, it shows that Spain announced lockdown measures after 200 recorded deaths while Bulgaria declared a one-month emergency after only one recorded death.

Take a look.
