The Marshall Project, a nonprofit news organization, and The Associated Press have created several data visualizations illustrating how COVID-19 has affected prisons in the United States. One visualization shows that more than 48,000 people in prison have tested positive for the virus. The visualizations also show that more than 10,000 prison staff have had COVID-19 and that New Jersey has the most prison cases per capita.
