Reuters has created a series of data visualizations illustrating the intensity of the pollution crisis in northern India. The visualizations illustrate that the scale and severity of air pollution in the region is more significant than China’s air problems or the pollution from wildfires in California. The visualizations also show that some areas have experienced air pollution levels that can cause premature mortality in people with existing diseases. In response, authorities in New Delhi have closed schools and limited the number of cars on roads.
