Researchers at the University of Minnesota, the University of Michigan, and Duke University have compiled a dataset that aggregates historical records on sundown towns in the United States, which are counties and cities that once had enacted laws or practices to restrict the movement of racial minorities, mainly African Americans. For each place, the dataset includes the corresponding geographic coordinates and boundaries, which can help researchers conduct quantitative studies on how sundown towns emerged and spread.
